Testimonials
Ryan is our bootybarre queen extraordinaire at Pilates of Pittsford in Mendon, Ryan is the owner and head trainer of this amazing studio where women of all ages, sizes and fitness levels feel comfortable in the very warm atmosphere she has created.
Cuing, instructing, form and anatomy; these are a few of Ryan’s strengths when teaching bootyBarre. With Ryan’s background in anatomy and physiology she does an excellent job explaining what we are working and what we should be feeling. Ryan excels at scaffolding an exercise so it is attainable for participants. Her very positive and reassuring voice makes all of us feel successful, giving us the encouragement when ready, to go beyond our comfort zone. Always showing modifications, we know, we all need to work where we are comfortable. Keeping us in beat and form, Ryan walks around to correct form whenever necessary, or add a personal note of positivity to a participant.
“Barre non” Ryan is one of the most knowledgeable instructors I have ever had. She has a passion for bootyBarre that comes through in her teaching and having her, as a Master Trainer, is a bonus for us at the studio. Anyone who trains under her in the future will certainly feel her warmth, hear her knowledge, and be inspired by her teaching.

Almost 3.5 years ago I wanted to enhance my Matwork and get on the Reformer. I formed a group and have been training with Ryan ever since. Ryan is my teacher, my guru as now I am trained and teaching Pilates I schedule and covet my workouts at the studio. She always challenges me physically and I value each and every session!

"I was never a 'go to the gym girl'. I preferred small-private settings for yoga and worked out at home and power walked. After a summer of admiring a golf partner's great conditioning and shape I knew I had to try Pilates. My routine wasn't cutting it. I was hooked at my first mat class with Jen. I felt refreshed and the same day and day after discovered specific sore muscles. After class it was fun to text my classmate asking if she was sore in her abs or hamstrings or whichever muscle groups were worked on and receiving her similar reply. I wanted to add group reformers to my routine. So to get up to speed I scheduled private sessions with Damara. Again afterward I was refreshed and sore in a great way. Since discovering Pilates I've stopped attending my yoga classes, dropped 5 pounds in six months and am so much more toned than I ever was before Pilates and simply feel great. I think my family and friends must be tired of me singing Pilates of Pittsford, Jen’s and Damara’s praises and, of course, showing them my new and improved physique."

"My occupation requires long location stays. As a long-time pilates student and as a result of long location stays, I have taken classes from many instructors around the country. Ryan Heminway is one of the best. She is a total professional. She not only maintains the same high energy level in each class, but also maintains on a continual basis an exceptionally high teaching standard. My experience has been that these are not easy attributes to find."

"I am a very busy, pressed-for-time small business owner. I want and need to stay physically fit. Over the years I have tried many different physical fitness activities with large and small groups and many different instructors. I have found in Ryan Hemingway an extraordinary young professional for many reasons. She keeps her classes moving, and is not judgmental of anyone’s abilities or what they look like. It is abundantly clear that she loves her job and that the physical betterment of her students is of the utmost importance. She takes great pride in her work as evidenced by her enthusiasm, her desire to make each class a memorable experience by constantly introducing new routines, and challenging us in each session to push a little harder. Personally, Ryan has helped improve my posture, which is a constant issue for those of us who sit in front of computer all day, as well as help me attain stronger physical health over all."
